5 Easy Ways to Build Your Small Business Email List

Congratulations! Congratulations! Now you're ready to market your small business. You already know that email marketing can be fun, cost-effective and affordable. Now you have to build your email list. How do you begin? These are five tips to help you get started.

1. Create a Guest Book for your business, store, or website. Ask people to sign it and leave a message asking them to subscribe to our mailing list. Subscribe to our mailing list!

2. If you're networking, ask people if they'd like to be added to your special offers or newsletter. It's illegal.

3. Give away something for free. In your office, store, or online. Offer a free report. A free gift. You can give it away as a raffle prize or to all those who sign up. A white paper works well if you make it simple and affordable. You don't need to give much but it can be something educational like a report, a consultation, or any other useful and valuable information that a potential client might find useful. It is important to make it clear to them that they are agreeing to receive emails when they enter the drawing.

Remember that email is regulated by the laws of small businesses. It doesn't matter how tempting, you should never add anyone to your email list without their permission. It's not only unprofessional and impolite, but it's also illegal.
